Hola, que mas?
Soy americana pero vivo un parte en Bogota...
Ok, en ingles- Does anyone recommend getting a Colombian visa if I want/ need to stay there longer than the standard two months that most tourists get? Last year I stayed there for six months without any extensions or leaving the country, it wasn't that bad, but I ended up having to pay El Das a big fee... so does anyone have any suggestions for the best ways of getting a visa?
Thanks!!

Re: visas
Thu, February 22, 2007 - 9:46 AMI'm not sure how you would get one, but I do think you would have to go to the central DAS offices here in Bogota...
www.das.gov.co/
the best bet, though, would have probably been to get a visa to enter Colombia while you were still in the States at a Colombian Embassy. getting a tourist visa before you enter Colombia allows you to stay here for 6 months, it's when one enters here without any visa at all that you only get permission to stay here for 2 months. -

Thu, February 22, 2007 - 8:38 PMThanks Sara- actually I'm still in the states, so I'd love to go to a Colombian embassy if I can find one... do you have any idea how to? I guess I could ask a travel agent...
Do you know how long it takes to get one??
Thanks! -

Sun, March 11, 2007 - 8:07 PMJust because your country seeks to conquer the world, you dont have to act on it like your country is America, even if there are sad people like Monroe and his Monroe Doctrine -

Re: visas
Tue, March 13, 2007 - 10:26 AMI remember a substitute English teacher I had in 9th grade,she was like...
"Hi! I'm Michelle and I'm from America!"
everyone in my class turned and looked at me since I was the one most fluent in English, so I got up and said...
"Hi" I'm Sara and I'm from South America!"
she was like "I don't understand"
so we all had to explain to our substitute teacher with the aid of a map we had in class that AMERICA in a continent and that the country she was refering to was the United States of America, and NOT America as a whole. She still didn't get it. -

Tue, March 13, 2007 - 11:03 AMI was trying to remember how "Estadounidenses" was in English, it's... "Unitedstadians", but it's hardly ever used in Enlgish, since "American" sounds so much better. I mean, can you imagine saying... "I just got my Unitedstadian citinzeship!" hehe... sounds funny!
And because they always call themselves American and not Unitedstadians that is why they almost always say they are from America. -

Mon, March 19, 2007 - 11:33 PMI have tried to popularize 'Unido' as a term for U.S. citizens, but only Canadians ever seem to know what I'm talking about.
